FAQ's

What is permanent make up?

Permanent make up is a form of Cosmetic tattooing also referred to as micro pigmentation where colour pigments are placed into the dermal layer of the skin, or lips using a machine and/ or hand-held tool for aesthetic purposes.

What are the benefits of Permanent Make up?

The benefits of having your eyeliner, eyebrows or lip colour cosmetically tattooed can range from being as simple as being able to get ready quicker in the morning, being able to do a workout, swim or lounge in the sun without your make up running or smudging. You may require having your brows reconstructed following loss of hair through over plucking, medication or an illness or more drastically having your brows or eyeliner tattooed in preparation for a loss of hair. (I treated the most wonderful lady alongside Katy who wanted her eyebrows and eyeliner tattooed as she was about to undergo cancer treatment. She felt that she would be confident to face to world if she lost the hair on her head and had to wear a wig but with the thought of loosing her beautiful thick eyebrows and lashes there would be nothing she could do and would lose her confidence. She wanted to have them cosmetically tattooed before her treatment started to ensure that if her hair on her brows and eyelashes did fall out she would still have the look of them being there.)

Is it safe?

Yes permanent make up is a very safe procedure if carried out correctly and if strict hygiene standards are met. I am checked and approved by Rochford District council and work to all standards set out by them. My clinic is used only for permanent make up treatments and is a hygienic, safe and sterile environment. Everything that I use which comes into contact with a client is sterile and then disposed of correctly under a strict waste license. I use the highest quality ink pigments from Perma Blend which are hypo-allergenic, meet all of the FDA & EU Regulations for safety and are also vegan and cruelty-free.

Is it painful?

I will be using a range of needles on the skin, therefore there will be a small level of discomfort (I liken it to more of an annoying scratching noise that goes through your head) Numbing cream can be applied to the area and will be added to your patch test should you wish to use it.

How long will it last?

Permanent Make up will remain in the skin for many years. The pigments I use will mean the colour will fade around 10% per year depending on the age, skin type, skin care and lifestyle. I recommend a Colour booster after 12-18 months to keep the shape and colour fresh and to avoid having to have the full treatment again.

How long will the treatment take?

Please allow up to 2 hours for your 1st treatment and around 1.5hours for your 6 week top up.

I have anti-wrinkle injections; can I still have Permanent Make up?

Yes, you can have PMU before anti-wrinkle injections, you may want to wait a couple of weeks before having anti-wrinkle injections to allow the area to heal. Please allow 6 weeks after your anti-wrinkle injections before having your PMU treatment as anti-wrinkle injections need time to take effect and should you get your brows treated during this time, they could end up looking asymmetric.

I have/would like dermal fillers; can I still have permanent Make up?

Yes, ideally have your Lip Blush treatment first, then please allow 4 weeks before having dermal fillers and then another 4 weeks before having your lip blush follow up appointment.

If you have already had dermal fillers then please wait for at least 6 weeks before having your Lip Blush treatment to allow the dermal fillers to settle.
