Terms & Conditions
Permanent Makeup is NOT suitable for everyone.

A patch test must be carried out 48 hours before your treatment and you will be provided with pre-treatment information.

All new clients are offered 2 sessions (the initial treatment and a ‘top-up’ session to perfect the tattooed area). You must wait a minimum of 6 weeks and a maximum of 10 weeks between each treatment to allow the stages of healing and the skin to heal properly. If the ‘top up’ is after 10 weeks it will be chargeable. Any further treatments or touch-ups for the tattooed area after a 6-week included ‘top up’ appointment will be charged accordingly to cover my costs. Before and after photographs are required for insurance purposes.

Annual Top-up (Refresh) treatments for Permanent Makeup are offered to existing clients only and are carried out over one appointment. if you require more treatments, you will be charged accordingly (please see costs for more information).

Those with oily-based or very dry skin, who do not heal well and fail to follow aftercare instructions, may require more treatments, which are charged accordingly to cover costs. All new clients will be charged the full price of a new treatment. I do not offer any top-up or annual top-up work on new clients; you will be treated as a new client.

You will be required to sign medical history and treatment consent forms for every appointment and treatment that you have (including consultations and annual refresh appointments). All medical information provided must be accurate. By signing our treatment consent forms you are agreeing to have understood our full booking terms and conditions, are agreeing to the shape and colour of the treatment, the full procedure being carried out, any risks that may occur and following the aftercare.

Eyebrow Permanent Makeup Treatments

Please note that hair strokes are not suitable for every skin type and may migrate and heal as powdery, blurry strokes and not take in very oily areas where the ink is diluted.

Your brows will be pre-drawn and measured using an array of equipment to try to get the brows as symmetrical as possible, however, no person's face is entirely symmetrical therefore by agreeing to the shape and colour on the treatment consent form, you understand that the brows will not be perfect and may differ slightly.

For all Permanent Makeup Treatments:

The treatment area may appear dark initially, and 50 to 70% of the colour may be lost as scabbing clears. Further treatment/s may be needed to achieve the correct balance.

Some areas of the face and lips which can include scar tissue, previous skin trauma, oily-based areas, and dry or chapped skin may not take the pigment ink at all during the treatment or during the aftercare which is beyond my control and refunds cannot be issued for undesired results.

There is no guarantee on the number of sessions required for any areas that do not take ink pigmentation and discolouration may occur. Refunds cannot be issued if results are not fulfilled.
Underlying skin conditions or poor aftercare could also cause ink migration or discolouration and there is no guarantee how the pigment ink will react under the skin. Refunds cannot be issued if this should occur.

We are not responsible for any facial asymmetry or where Botox or fillers have caused any facial or lip asymmetry after your treatment.
Kimberley Lee Shelley at Essex Permanent Make-up Artist is not responsible for any previous Permanent Make up/semi-permanent makeup/ Cosmetic tattooing treatments carried out by another artist, which may have caused any damage to the skin, or pigmentation discolouration.

AFTERCARE

You will be provided with an aftercare pack following every treatment appointment, this includes details on what to expect during the healing, how to treat the tattooed area, do’s and don’ts along with a supply of cotton buds and a vitamin cream to use on the area to assist with the healing. You must follow these instructions to ensure your treatment stays at its best and heals correctly.
Sunbeds, heat treatments and direct sun should be avoided 1 week before your procedure and 4 weeks after your treatment(s)
Swimming (in a pool or the sea) should also be avoided for 2 weeks after any treatment(s)
Heavy exercise should be avoided for 7-14 days after treatment(s), when the body temperature increases the pores expand and sweat will push out pigment and affect the healing process, depending on the client's healing it may be ok to engage in light workouts after 7-10 days but caution is advised.
Kimberley Lee Shelley at Essex Permanent Make up Artist is not responsible for failure to follow the aftercare instructions provided and the risks of post treatment infection which are beyond my control and for which you take full and sole responsibility.

FAQ's
What is permanent make up?
Permanent make up is a form of Cosmetic tattooing also referred to as micro pigmentation where colour pigments are placed into the dermal layer of the skin, or lips using a machine and/ or hand-held tool for aesthetic purposes.
What are the benefits of Permanent Make up?
The benefits of having your eyeliner, eyebrows or lip colour cosmetically tattooed can range from being as simple as being able to get ready quicker in the morning, being able to do a workout, swim or lounge in the sun without your make up running or smudging. You may require having your brows reconstructed following loss of hair through over plucking, medication or an illness or more drastically having your brows or eyeliner tattooed in preparation for a loss of hair. (I treated the most wonderful lady alongside Katy who wanted her eyebrows and eyeliner tattooed as she was about to undergo cancer treatment. She felt that she would be confident to face to world if she lost the hair on her head and had to wear a wig but with the thought of loosing her beautiful thick eyebrows and lashes there would be nothing she could do and would lose her confidence. She wanted to have them cosmetically tattooed before her treatment started to ensure that if her hair on her brows and eyelashes did fall out she would still have the look of them being there.)
Is it safe?
Yes permanent make up is a very safe procedure if carried out correctly and if strict hygiene standards are met. I am checked and approved by Rochford District council and work to all standards set out by them. My clinic is used only for permanent make up treatments and is a hygienic, safe and sterile environment. Everything that I use which comes into contact with a client is sterile and then disposed of correctly under a strict waste license. I use the highest quality ink pigments from Perma Blend which are hypo-allergenic, meet all of the FDA & EU Regulations for safety and are also vegan and cruelty-free.
Is it painful?
I will be using a range of needles on the skin, therefore there will be a small level of discomfort (I liken it to more of an annoying scratching noise that goes through your head) Numbing cream can be applied to the area and will be added to your patch test should you wish to use it.
How long will it last?
Permanent Make up will remain in the skin for many years. The pigments I use will mean the colour will fade gradually, the rate at which will be different for every client and can depend on age, skin type, skin care and lifestyle. I recommend a Colour booster between 1-2.5 years. Colour refresh appointments are only offered to existing clients, they are a one of appointment aimed to keep your PMU looking fresh and vibrant whilst being careful not to oversaturate the skin. Please see price list for full details.
How long will the treatment take?
Please allow up to 2 hours for your 1st treatment and around 1.5hours for your 6 week top up.
I have anti-wrinkle injections; can I still have Permanent Make up?
Yes, you can have PMU before anti-wrinkle injections, you may want to wait a couple of weeks before having anti-wrinkle injections to allow the area to heal. Please allow 6 weeks after your anti-wrinkle injections before having your PMU treatment as anti-wrinkle injections need time to take effect and should you get your brows treated during this time, they could end up looking asymmetric.
I have/would like dermal fillers; can I still have permanent Make up?
Yes, ideally have your Lip Blush treatment first, then please allow 4 weeks before having dermal fillers and then another 4 weeks before having your lip blush follow up appointment.

If you have already had dermal fillers then please wait for at least 6 weeks before having your Lip Blush treatment to allow the dermal fillers to settle.
How do I book an appointment?
A free consultation is required as a first step. You can book this by:

What happens at the consultation?
At your consultation we will discuss the treatment(s) you are considering along with the benefits that permanent makeup can offer. We will talk through the process and all of the equipment and pigments used along with the colour options and how we will best match the pigments to you. We will discuss your medical history as we need to check if there are any contra indications that would mean you are either unsuitable for permanent make-up or that just need to be checked with your Doctor before we can proceed. We will go through the healing process and aftercare to ensure that you are fully informed. You will be able to ask any questions that you may have.

A patch test will be carried out during your consultation. You will need to wait at least 12 hours after the patch test before your treatment can go ahead. A booking fee of £50 is required to book your treatment, This will be taken off the final bill.

A £50 booking fee is taken when booking your treatment which can be paid in cash, bank transfer or card and the remaining balance is taken at the end of your appointment. You can make payment for this by cash or card; I have a Card machine in the clinic.
